Over the last two years, I have noticed more and more Indian cricketers wear jersey numbers that are either lucky or are their birth numbers. Sourav Ganguly was among the first to do this; he would change jersey numbers depending upon the opposition and the date the game was played on. Rahul Dravid wore "19" in ODIs since his wife's birthday was on the 19th. Sachin Tendulkar wears "10" because he is "Ten"dulkar, not to mention he is the best player in the team; just like in football, where you had Pele and Maradona wear 10. However, everyone else (at that time) seemed to have picked a number that fancied them, whether it was numerologically favourable or not.
I snapped this picture on my laptop while watching the CB Series in early 2008 having noticed the "lucky" numbers chosen by our cricketers. Why did they pick those numbers? Well, here are their dates of birth and maybe some of their jersey numbers will make sense.
