My friend from my days at Bombay University, Sameer Gokhale, responded by email to my previous post on Bharatvarsha. Sameer asks me how Hindustan fared as a name. Here is my reply to him.

Name number is supposed to be in harmony with date of birth and total (fadic) number. India was created on 15.8.1947. So date is 6 (1+5 =6) and total is 8 (1+5+8+1+9+4+7 = 35; 3+5 =8). India is 3, which is Guru (Jupiter) number, while 6 is Shukra (Venus) and 8 is Shani (Saturn). 3 is the enemy of 6 AND 8. The friends for 6 and 8 are 5 (Mercury, Budh), 6 and 8. Therefore the name of the country should total to 5, 6 or 8. But as 8 is a bad number overall, it should be avoided as a name number. In order to offset the negative effects of 8 as the fadic number, you use the positive numbers 5 and 6 in the name. Hence Bharat (15) , Bharatvarsh (32) and Bharatavarsh/Bharatvarsha (33) are good.
Hindustan totals to 34; a 7 (Ketu) and 7 is an average number. Doesn' t have the power of numbers like 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9 which are positive numbers. Also, 7 is an enemy of 8, and neutral to 6. Therefore it wouldn't be a good choice as a name. By itself, 34 is a generally fortunate number and is good for individuals and provides material benefit and progress, but gives addiction to women and alcohol. Hence it is an avoidable name number.
However Hindoostan (42) is a fantabulous number; on par with 33. And Hindoostan and Hindustan are pronounced the same way.
